Paramilitary Forces
Introduction:
Paramilitary force organizations, under the Central Government,
responsible for guarding our national
boundaries from external aggression.
PMF is regarded as the world's second
largest paramilitary organization (second only to the Chinese Peoples Armed
Forces). PMF helps the army, the navy, the Air force and the state police
whenever required.
Nature of Work:
Constituted to maintain internal security,
and support Defence services of the country.
Personality:
Should have good health,should qualify for the test eg. height weight etc.

Courses Duration:
For paramilitary forces recruitment,
graduates should pass in the UPSC examination with a minimum score requirement.
Paper 1 consists of numerical ability, reasoning, basic intelligence, and
general awareness. Paper 2 consists of an essay, precise writing and
comprehension. Aspirants who pass the UPSC examination or respective selection
tests with the minimum required score have to undergo a physical efficiency
test and a medical test
Eligibility:
You can join Paramilitary Forces of India
(PMF) after completing their Class X, XII or Graduation. Graduates in any
stream, who are 20- 25 years of age may apply for recruitment to the posts of
sub-inspectors in BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP and SSB.
Career
Prospects /Companies:
While a career in paramilitary forces is
sought after because of its perks and allowances, getting in is not a cakewalk.
Aspirants need to fulfil physical fitness and mental aptitude criteria and
appear for written exams, the latter applicable mostly for officers.
Remuneration:
In paramilitary forces, the pay and remuneration vary depending
on the force and rank. Typically, Assistant Commandants fall in the pay band of
Rs. 1.8 lakhs per annum to Rs. 4.5 lakhs with grade pay. This is exclusive of
perks such as medical allowance, travel expense reimbursement, free ration,
etc. A lucrative pay and generous perks make paramilitary forces jobs a
sought-after profession.
